Seminar "#BerlinWall30 –The future for the post-cold war liberal order"

We are glad to announce that the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies will host on May 24-25, a two-day seminar entitled “#BerlinWall30 –The future for the post-cold war liberal order”.

The seminar constitutes an opportunity for researchers and practitioners from different disciplinary areas to debate and discuss potential future practical and conceptual scenarios that might characterize the region in years to come.The event seeks to shed light on the evolution of the multiple crises affecting Europe and analyse possible short- and mid-term geo-political developments (i.e. escalation, stabilization, normalization, and frozen conflict) and their impact on EU-Russia and West-Russia relations.

This year’s edition of the event, marking the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall will devote specific attention to the role played, in this context, by the forces that challenge the post-cold war liberal order both in Europe and in the wider context as well as their transitive connection with Moscow.

The call for papers is now open. Paper proposals – which must include a short abstract, applicants’ affiliation, position, and CV – can be submitted by April 5, 2019 via the submission system at the following link or via e-mail directly to Dr Stefano Braghiroli ([email protected]). Contributions are welcome from scholars, researchers, and experts from different disciplinary and methodological perspectives.

Students of all levels and everybody interested in the debate are more than welcome to attend the panels and the roundtable!
