Election analysis seminar on Sweden's elections

The Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies invites you to the next event in our Election Analysis Series:

General Election in Sweden: The Unknown Unknowns

September 9 is the national election day in Sweden, with the country’s general election taking place together with regional and municipal elections. According to the latest opinion polls, the support for all major political blocs running for Parliament is relatively head-to-head and none of them are expected to win the majority. Eyes all over Europe are on Sweden because the far-right Sweden Democrats, who have promised to curb immigration and announce a Swexit vote, are currently enjoying over 18% support. It remain to be seen whether, with the new government, Sweden will join Italy, Austria, Poland and Hungary or will remain a stronghold of liberal democracy.

Junior Researcher Louis Wierenga and Senior Researcher Katrin Uba, both with extensive experience on Sweden, will lead the discussion on what the election results may bring both to Sweden as well as Europe.
