The photo exhibition “Inspired by Europe” features the best works from the photo competition held in spring. The authors have captured European values.
Ten Central and Eastern European countries joined the European Union twenty years ago, including Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. In the spring, to celebrate the anniversary, representatives of seven universities – Vilnius University (Lithuania), University of Tartu, University of Opole (Poland), J. E. Purkyně University (Czech Republic), Comenius University (Slovakia), Ludovika University (Hungary), and University of Latvia (Latvia) – signed a memorandum of cultural cooperation to promote collaboration with the CAMINO project.
The student photo competition “Inspired by Europe” took place in March 2024. Over 770 photos were submitted by students from Estonia, Cyprus, Lithuania, Latvia, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Ukrainian students living in these countries.
The photo authors sought answers to questions about how the values of a united Europe have shaped our lives today and how traditions and new European values intertwine in today's member states. The photo exhibition reflects students' understanding of European values.
The exhibition features 11 succeeding works selected by an international jury, each conveying European values through the eyes of young people who have grown up as citizens of the European Union.
In the spring, the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies and the university museum organized a conference called “Our Choice and Its Consequences: 20 Years in the European Union” to celebrate Europe Day. They opened the photo exhibition “Inspired by Europe” as part of the CAMINO project. The winning works of the photo competition were also displayed in the European Parliament. Now the exhibition has arrived at the Skytte Institute. The exhibition can be viewed for free at the Lossi 36 academic building during its opening hours, Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 6 PM.
