The Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies at the University of Tartu invites all interested to apply for the micro-credential programmes "Global Politics and Foreign Influence" and "Fundamentals of the European Union".
The Skytte Institute micro-credential programme offers an excellent opportunity to enhance your knowledge and skills in various fields of political studies. These programmes are designed for professionals seeking opportunities for professional development, as well as students wishing to supplement their studies. This autumn, the Skytte Institute is offering two programmes in English.
Visiting Professor Toomas Hendrik Ilves, in collaboration with Associate Professor of Communication Studies Sten Hansson from the Institute of Social Studies, will teach the micro-degree programme "Global Politics and Foreign Influence".
The Global Politics and Foreign Influence micro-credential explores the forces shaping global politics and the evolving structures of world order and information manipulation processes that aim to threaten security. Participants will investigate critical issues, including the role of digital societies, the resilience of democratic systems amid populism and disinformation, the impact of longstanding alliances and emerging security threats, and various forms of information disorder and approaches to countering foreign influence activities.
Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17:00 to 20:30, from 21 October to 11 December. Seminars will be conducted in English as e-learning. Lectures will also be recorded for later viewing. The micro-credential programme is offered in collaboration with the Institute of Social Studies.
The application deadline is 25 August.

The aim of the web-based micro-credential programme "Fundamentals of the European Union" is to support Ukraine as a European Union candidate country in its preparations for EU membership and to increase the awareness and competencies of Ukrainian public sector officials, civil society representatives and other groups involved in the accession process.
In cooperation with the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV), the University of Tartu offers up to 20 tuition-waiver scholarships for Ukrainian citizens who work in the field related to Ukraine’s potential EU accession. For others, a fee of applies.
Classes will be held from 4 September to 22 December. Programme will be conducted in English as e-learning.
The application deadline is 11 August.
