The highlight of the off-road and gravel cycling season is the Tartu Bike Marathon! The event offers the joy of movement to sports enthusiasts of all ages and fitness levels – each year, thousands of cyclists take part.
The main distances of 126, 86, 40 and 21 km take riders to the varied gravel and forest roads of Southern Estonia. The course is not technically demanding and largely follows the famous Tartu Marathon route, making it well suited to gravel bikes, as well. The 126, 86 and 40 km races start from Otepää, while the 21 km race starts from Palu. The finish for all four distances is set amongst the beautiful pine forests of Elva. The day after the main event, kids´ races await the younger family members.
Since 2026, the Tartu Bike Marathon is part of the UCI Gravel World Series.
It is also possible to join the virtual race format on your favourite home track.
For more information, see the homepage of Tartu Maraton.
When it comes to physical activity, it is not the pace or results that matter most, but the opportunity to be active, spend time outdoors and enjoy a sense of wellbeing. Everyone can choose a distance and pace that suits them and prepare for the event independently or by joining organised training sessions.
Put on your University of Tartu sportswear, invite your colleagues, fellow students or friends, and head to the starting line together.
