Toomas Hendrik Ilves will speak at the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies about the impact of the new U.S. president taking office on Euro-Atlantic security.

The Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies will be hosting an open lecture “The Beginning of Trump’s Presidency: What Does it Mean for Euro-Atlantic Security?” by Toomas Hendrik Ilves, President of Estonia in 2006-2016 and currently Guest Professor at the University of Tartu. In his speech at the ceremony dedicated to the 106th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia in 2024, Ilves has said: “No, history does not end. But eras certainly do.”

The lecture aims to discuss the most recent changes in US foreign and security policy after the inauguration of Donald Trump and their implications for the EU, NATO and its allies, particularly considering the ongoing Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
