Vice President of the Atlantic Council to talk about the Three Seas Initiative
The Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies is pleased to announce that Mr Damon Wilson, Executive Vice President of the Atlantic Council, will give a public lecture on the Three Seas Initiative at the Institute on Tuesday, 18 February at 12.15. The lecture takes place in the Faculty of Social Sciences building, at Lossi 36, room 214.
The Three Seas Initative (3SI) is a Presidential forum launched in 2015, which includes the 12 EU Member States located between the Adriatic, the Baltic and the Black Seas: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. The aim of the Initiative is to boost connectivity in the region between the Baltic, Black and Adriatic Seas. In 2020, Estonia will host the annual summit of the Three Seas Initiative. Both the US and the EU have expressed their top-level support for the initiative to strengthen the region’s development.
Mr Damon Wilson is Executive Vice President of the Atlantic Council. His areas of expertise include NATO, transatlantic relations, Central and Eastern Europe, and national security issues. Previously, Mr Wilson has served as special assistant to the President and senior director for European Affairs at the National Security Council, executive secretary at the US embassy in Baghdad, director for Central, Eastern, and Northern European affairs at the National Security Council, deputy director of the Private Office of the NATO Secretary General Lord George Robertson.
