The Politics and Governance in the Digital Age master’s programme explores how digital transformation reshapes democracy, public administration, and political decision-making, helping you make sense of modern governance in one of the world’s leading digital societies, Estonia. 1) have a broad-based knowledge of the main components of modern politics and public administration (incl. Democracy theory and institutions, elections and party systems, policy-making and organization of public services) and be able to apply this knowledge in practice;
2) have acquired basic knowledge of technological development and the functioning of information societies and understands how technological transfer affects modern political processes and public administration;
3) have a thorough knowledge of the approaches and research methods used in political science and is able to independently formulate policy and public administration problems;
4) have acquired the necessary skills and digital competences to solve the practical tasks of democratic public administration, which enable analyzing and implementing ICT solutions to address societal problems and understanding their opportunities and threats;
5) are ready to work in the field of research, development or creativity or in a qualified field of activity in the public / private / non-profit sector.
The International Relations and Regional Studies master’s programme helps you make sense of global politics in a complex and volatile world. Combining core international relations theory with in-depth regional expertise in the European Union, Russia and Eurasia, or the Baltic Sea region, the programme bridges academic insight and real-world practice. 1) have systematic overview and broad knowledge of international relations, and understand how to apply it in everyday life;
2) attain in-depth knowledge in a specific field of IR (security politics, foreign policy analysis, conflict management, etc.) as well as a broader understanding of an area of global importance (the European Union, Russia and the Post-Soviet Space, and the Baltic Sea Region);
3) be proficient in analytical tools and research methods and be able to argue effectively in both oral and written form on issues of IR;
4) have acquired knowledge, skills, and professional norms that enable practical work (conflict mediation, negotiations, foreign and security policy assistance, and implementation of legal regulations in international law);
5) be prepared to work in the fields of science, development, and creativity, or in qualified positions in the public sector, demonstrating initiative, responsibility, leadership, and teamwork skills.
