We are happy to invite you to a conference “Post-truth, Post-society, Post-post” which will be held on 16-17 November 2017 at the University of Tartu.
Has truth become a victim in modern society?
The phenomenal rise of right-wing populism, Brexit, hybrid warfare and so-called fake news raises the important question as to whether there is still a place for truth in the modern world full of technology and propaganda. This conference will look at how disinformation campaigns are affecting the international peace and stability of society both in the eastern and western part of the globe.
Round table discussions of the first day in the Assembly Hall of UT (Ülikooli 18, Tartu) will concentrate on three large topics: Elections and manipulative information; Order and security, and Journalism and social media in the post-truth times. Workshops on the second day at the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies (Lossi 36, Tartu) are going deeper with the analysis of these topics and they try to find some answers in more practical ways.
We kindly ask you to register for the conference until 10 November at the link below.
The conference is organized within the framework of German-Estonian academic week Academica, supported by the Federation of Employers' Associations of North Rhine-Westphalia.
